Dramatic arrest on the Décarie as police investigate car theft

Published:

Provincial police arrest a suspect on the Décarie Expressway allegedly involved in a car theft.

Drivers saw quite a scene during the afternoon commute Wednesday as provincial police officers were on foot on the Décarie Expressway to arrest suspects allegedly involved in a car theft.

At around 6 p.m., the Sûreté du Québec spotted the red Acura and caught up with it on the highway’s northbound lanes, blocking traffic near Vézina Street and Plamondon Avenue in Côte-Des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-De-Grâce. The car had been reported stolen by its owner earlier in the day.

Three people were inside the vehicle, according to police. Two of the three suspects fled on foot but were arrested nearby. The third suspect was arrested after being taken out of the vehicle.

All three people will be questioned by investigators.

Police did not release any further details Wednesday evening.
