Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and construction to cause Montreal-area road closures

The Saint-Patrick Day’s Parade and various construction projects will cause road closures in and around Montreal this weekend.

Drivers heading into the city should note overnight closures in the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel and on the Charles-de-Gaulle Bridge.

Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

  • On Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., the 200th St. Patrick’s Day Parade will run along Maisonneuve Avenue between Fort Street and Jeanne-Mance Street in Montreal.

Drivers heading downtown should expect traffic disruptions.

Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel (A-25)

  • From Friday at 11 p.m. to Saturday at 8 a.m. and from Saturday at 11 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m., the northbound Highway 25 west lanes between exit 90 (R-132) in Longueuil and the Sherbrook Street access in Montreal will be closed, including in the tunnel.
  • During the same period, the southbound lanes of the highway will be closed between the Sherbrooke Street exit (5) in Montreal and Route 132 in Longueuil.

As a result, the following closures will be in effect 30 minutes before the highway is closed:

  • The Route-132 east and west (exits 89-N) ramps to Highway 25 North.
  • The l'Île-Charron Street access.
  • Access points from Sherbrooke, Tellier and Futailles streets.
  • Souligny Avenue eastbound between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand.

Charles-de Gaulle Bridge (A-40)

  • From Friday at 9:30 p.m. to Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and from Sunday at 10:30 p.m. to Monday at 4 a.m., Highway 40 West will be closed between exit 96-E (A-640 east) and the Gouin Boulevard access, including the Charles-De Gaulle bridge.
  • As a result, the Highway 640 east and west ramps and the Saint-Charles Road/ Montée des Pionniers access points will be closed by default.
  • In addition, one of three lanes on the bridge will be closed from Saturday at 8:30 a.m. to Sunday at 10:30 p.m.

Bonaventure Highway (A-10)

  • From Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., two of three lanes on the Bonaventure Highway (A-10) East will close between Wellington Street and the Victoria Bridge.

Pie-IX Boulevard

  • From Friday at 11 p.m. to Sunday at 10 p.m., Pie-IX Boulevard northbound will be closed between Notre-Dame and Hochelaga streets.

Robert-Bourassa Boulevard

  • From Saturday at 7 a.m. to Sunday at 7 p.m., Robert-Bourassa Boulevard southbound will be closed between Belmont and Gauchetière streets.

Papineau Avenue

  • From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, one lane will be open in each direction on Papineau Avenue between Logan Street and René-Lévesque Boulevard.

REM light rail line

  • The REM will not run every Saturday and Sunday in March.
