The “presence of smoke,” according to the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), caused disruptions on the Orange line Friday morning.
Normal service has since resumed.
The public transit agency took to social media to state that all the stations between Berri-UQAM and Henri-Bourassa were affected by the incident.
“The reason remains unknown, and we are working to determine the cause,” the STM said, noting the issue was at the Crémazie station.

Commuter Joshua Gariepy, who said he was late for an exam because of the delay, told CTV News that personnel were onsite to help usher people out of the underground network.
At the time, the STM said service was expected to resume by 9:30 a.m., and a special bus service was put in place.
