Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a vehicle was set on fire on Friday night in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough.

SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said that around 11:10 p.m. police officers responded to a call reporting that a vehicle was on fire in a parking lot on Saint-André Street near Jean-Talon Street.

“Firefighters with the Montreal fire department quickly brought the fire under control. The vehicle was a total loss,” Chèvrefils said.

The spokesperson added that the cause of the fire is still unknown, and the case has been transferred to the SPVM’s arson squad.

The vehicle was towed and will be analyzed. The investigation is ongoing.
