Statcare Emergency Clinic in Pointe-Claire will shut its doors on Dec. 31.
ELNA Medical, the clinic’s owner, said they are working to minimize the impact on thousands of patients’ care.
“We are currently working with the CIUSSS, clinics in our network such as Brunswick Medical and clinics in the vicinity to ensure continuity of care,” said ELNA Medical spokesperson Jonathan Prunier.
Prunier also confirmed that one doctor has agreed to transfer his walk-in practice to Brunswick Medical, located 3 km away from Statcare.
Last week, ELNA Medical was granted creditor protection.
“It is important to note that Statcare is exclusively a minor emergency clinic, therefore, no patients were followed at that clinic on a regular basis,” he explained.
“The vast majority of physicians practicing minor emergencies at Statcare also practice family medicine at GMF Stillview, located in the same medical complex.”
Pointe-Claire Mayor Tim Thomas previously told CTV News that the closure would put additional pressure on the Lakeshore General Hospital.
Meanwhile, another ELNA Medical facility, ELNA Pierrefonds, will relocate on Jan. 6.
“It is not closing. All family doctors will move their practice at Brunswick Medical, located 5 km away. All of the current clinic personnel as well,” Prunier said adding that the vast majority of specialist had also confirmed the transfer of their practice to Brunswick Medical.
