After more than a metre of snow in February, it is about to get very wet this early March in southern Quebec, followed by freezing cold.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is expecting temperatures to push past the freezing mark in the Montreal area by Wednesday with rain in the forecast for two days.
ECCC issued a special weather statement on Monday morning for the following regions:
- Mont-Tremblant - Sainte-Agathe area,
- Metro Montréal - Laval,
- Vaudreuil area,
- Valleyfield - Beauharnois area,
- Mont-Orford - Lake Memphrémagog area,
- Sherbrooke area
Environment Canada said that between 15 and 25 millimetres of rain could hit the region until Thursday.
In addition, freezing rain is possible on Wednesday morning.
Things could get a lot worse for drive.
Thursday night’s temperatures are forecast to drop to -6 degrees and tumble down to -10 by Friday night.
ECCC posted on its social media account that temperatures could drop below -20 in March.
