Accused North Bay copper wire thief found with brass knuckles

North Bay police say that a 36-year-old North Bay man was arrested on June 4 as he attempted to steal copper wire from a North Bay business.

An investigation implicated him in more thefts and he is now charged with three separate break-and-enters in which copper wire was stolen.

“On June 4 at around 5 a.m., officers from the North Bay Police Service were conducting a property check at a local business, as the business had been the victim of recent thefts of copper wire within a secure compound,” police said in a news release this week.

“While checking the property, the officers located the accused preparing to steal copper wire. The accused was arrested and transported to North Bay Police Service headquarters.”

A search uncovered break-in tools and a set of brass knuckles. It also emerged he was on probation when he was arrested.

Charges include break, enter and theft, weapons possession and four charges for violating parole.

He was held for a bail hearing.
