SAULT STE. MARIE -- Volunteers in Sault Ste. Marie are collecting and sorting through dozens of jackets and other winter wear as part of an annual campaign to help spread the warmth for those less fortunate.

It’s the CTV Coats for Kids Campaign, an effort that provides children with gently used winter jackets, snowsuits, boots, and even hats and mittens.

This local initiative has been taking place each fall for 25 years.

Last year, more than 60 families walked away with new winter gear.

A number of places in the Sault are accepting donations until October 25.

Donations can be dropped off at:

  • Fountain Tire – Black Road
  • Algoma Financial Group – Queen Street
  • Skeggs, Paciocco Law Firm- Queen Street
  • Floreani O’Toole, Dool Orthodontists – Bay Street
  • Jon’s Medicine Shoppe- Korah Road & Second Line
  • Great Lakes Honda – Pim Street

Coats for Kids distribution will be held at Community Living Algoma on November 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
