Authorities seek help with two Sault break-and-enter investigations

Police in the Sault Ste. Marie area are investigating two break-and-enter incidents last month involving a U-Haul van last month.

Between April 12 and April 14, according to Ontario Provincial Police, unknown individuals targeted Ministry of Transportation yards in Hilton Beach and Searchmont.

“It is believed the same suspects were involved in both incidents, as a U-Haul van was observed entering both properties during the time frame in question,” said officials with Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District in a news release.

Authorities said the Hilton Beach location was raided at approximately 8 p.m. on April 12, while the Searchmont yard was robbed between 10 a.m. on April 12 and noon on April 14.

Crime Stoppers said that the thieves made off with roughly $10,000 in tools and equipment.

Portions of the incidents were captured by video surveillance cameras and the OPP and Crime Stoppers are requesting the public’s assistance with identifying potential suspects.
