Blind River resident charged after domestic incident

Ontario Provincial Police laid charges following an investigation into multiple breaches of a release order in domestic-related incidents in Blind River last week.

On March 18 at about 4 p.m., police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the area. Investigators determined that an ex-partner, who was under court-ordered conditions not to communicate directly or indirectly with the complainant, had allegedly attempted to make contact several times through social media.

Further investigation revealed the individual was also subject to an outstanding bench warrant.

No further details were provided by authorities.

Subsequently, according to an OPP news release Friday afternoon, at around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, officers executed an arrest warrant at a residence in Blind River.

As a result, a 40-year-old local man has been charged with four counts of failing to comply with a release order.

“Due to the domestic nature of the incident, the name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim,” said police.

The accused was still in custody Friday.
