Candidate says his election signs were stolen and burned in Sudbury

Sudbury campaign signs have been vandalized Mayor candidate Bob Johnston tells CTV News several of his signed were recently stolen and some were even burned.

Greater Sudbury mayoral candidate Bob Johnston says 30 of his election signs were recently stolen and three burned.

Johnston said he got a call Thursday morning about one of his large signs on fire along Paris Street.

He said he reported the incidents to police. Police confirm it's a criminal offence to tamper with election signs.

"It really hurts me," Johnston said.

"I have put up over 400 signs through the city and I was involved with every sign that went up … I am a double leg amputee and I will hit the streets and I will replace them. I am gonna' work hard and work hard for the people."

Greater Sudbury Police said they have received three mischief and one arson complaint about municipal election signs.
