Family dispute in northern Ont. ends with assault, attempt to harm family pet

Police in West Nipissing have charged a 17-year-old after police received a request to help a family.

On June 3 shortly after 4 p.m., members of the Nipissing West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were called to help keep the peace at a family dispute on Alain Street.

“It was reported earlier that day, a young person, assaulted and uttered a threat to another family member and then attempted to harm the family pet,” the OPP said in a news release.

The young offender has been charged with assault, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats and killing or injuring an animal.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay in July 2024.
