Fire destroys Kirkland Lake buildings Two residential buildings in Kirkland Lake were destroyed by an early morning fire that has left four people displaced.

An early Friday morning fire has destroyed two buildings in Kirkland Lake.

The blaze broke out in the early morning hours of April 12 on the 20 block of Main Street near McCamus Avenue.

Fire officials told CTV News that both structures are a total loss – one building was vacant and undergoing renovations and the other was an occupied four-unit apartment complex.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire but four people are now displaced.

A local resident and retired police officer, Bryan Clark, said the fire happened about 4 a.m. and posted a video of the incident to social media. (A copy of the footage is available above.)

The fire was not extinguished until about noon.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

This incident came only a few hours before the town declared an emergency as Murdoch Creek spilled over its banks causing flooding in the area.
