Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a three-vehicle collision on Highway 11 at the intersection of Seymour Street at about 5:15 p.m. on March 5.
“One of the involved drivers left the scene before police arrival,” said police in a news release.

Then approximately 45 minutes later at 6 p.m., the North Bay Police Service received a call for a single motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Booth Road and Massey Drive.
“Officers arrived to find the same vehicle from the earlier incident, now completely in the ditch,” OPP said.
“While speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.”
The driver was arrested and transported to a local police detachment for further testing.
A search of the driver during the arrest led to the seizure of what police suspect to be fentanyl.
As a result of the incident, the 41-year-old motorist from Callander has been charged with impaired driving, failing to remain and drug possession.

In addition to the charges, the accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle involved was impounded by police for seven days at the owner’s expense.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on April 1 to answer the charges.
“The OPP reminds all motorists that impaired driving is one of the leading causes of collisions on Ontario roads,” said police.
“Always plan ahead and arrange for a safe ride home.”
