Timmins — Elvis was alive and well in Timmins on Thursday.
Several impersonators were on hand as people were shopping at a local mall.
It was part of a fundraiser for the warming bus called The Yo-Mobile.
"Obviously atmosphere is very important to us. It's a very good celebration… creating a good food court vibe and judging by the comments from all of our shoppers, many people are happy that we've done this," commented Brenda McLeish, Timmins Square.
There was also a four-hour karaoke session presented by music producer and singer Leslie-Anne Dupuis.
"It's really cold to be a homeless person right now in Timmins and I'm trying to help them with gas money and anything I possibly can cause I have a few friends that unfortunately are homeless right now," said Dupuis.
The Yo-Mobile, an old school bus turned warming station, was founded by Mario Dusseault nine years ago. He and a team of volunteers run the bus in the Timmins City Hall parking lot on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 p.m. to midnight.
Desseault says thanks to the generosity of the community, he's able to maintain the bus.
"It's hard for me to say ok it's finished, park this, you understand… you need someplace just for just passing to take a coffee and it's only 7 p.m. to midnight… every bank closes their doors… I understand… but you need this, you need this," he explained.
There will be more help on the way for the Yo-Moble from the Elvis impersonators next month when there will be another special event hosted by Leslie-Anne Dupuis.
