Hearst couple celebrates $250K scratch ticket win

After two years of a weekly Monday ritual, a Hearst couple, Lucie and Marc, won the $250,000 top prize on an Instant Crossword Deluxe scratch ticket.

Lucie and Marc V. of Hearst won the $250,000 top prize with Instant Crossword Deluxe scratch ticket, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. has announced.

The married couple said they have been playing Crossword Deluxe every Monday for the past two years.

“It keeps my mind sharp,” Marc said while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect their windfall.

Thought they only won $25K

Lucie initially believed they had won $25,000, not realizing it was $250,000 until they scanned their ticket.

“I started jumping up and down!” he said.

The couple drove to their daughter’s house right away to tell her the news.

“All of our friends and family are so happy for us. We’ll really enjoy this,” said Lucie.

The parents of one and grandparents of four plan to save their winnings for retirement, buy a new pickup truck and take a trip to Walt Disney World with their grandchildren.

The winning ticket was purchased at Hearst Corner Store on George Street in Hearst.
