Ontario Provincial Police told CTV News Northern Ontario that the collision happened around 4:20 p.m. and involved a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer.

A 52-year-old man from Kirkland Lake has died, OPP said in an update Thursday morning.

OPP acting Sgt. Michelle Simard confirmed no other injuries were reported.

Crossed the centre line

A photo of the scene obtained by CTV News shows traffic stopped behind a tractor-trailer sprawling across both highway lanes.

In the photo, transport appears to have crashed into the ditch on the opposite side of the road.

The highway reopened between Cedar Heights Road and Highway 64 in Marten River shortly after 11:30 p.m.

“The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP traffic incident management enforcement (TIME) unit,” OPP said.

“The investigation is in its early stages at this time.”

No word on the cause or whether any charges are pending.
