Increased police presence near Englehart High School ends

Ontario Provincial Police had advised the public of an increased police presence in the area of 4th Street and 6th Avenue in Englehart, Ont., for an active investigation shortly before 1:30 p.m.

The police presence was centred on the area of the local high school, Englehart High School.

In an update, the OPP said that officers had cleared the scene shortly as of 2:40 p.m.

“There is no threat to public safety,” the said police.

Public was asked to avoid area

“Please avoid the area to allow officers to carry out their duties safely,” said OPP in its initial social media post.

OPP have not released any further details about the nature of the investigation.

CTV News has reached out to the District School Board Ontario North East for comment but has not yet received a response.
