A 38-year-old suspect in Kirkland Lake has been charged with setting a fire in July, and for making drunken threats in August.
The arson charges relate to an incident early in the morning on July 24 when emergency crews responded to a fire on Premier Avenue West in Kirkland Lake.
He was arrested Aug. 7 and charged with two counts of arson (disregard for human life) and three counts of violating probation orders.
He has a bail hearing Sept. 1 in Kirkland Lake on those charges.
A day earlier, the man was arrested for making phone threats.
Ontario Provincial Police arrested him at 10:40 p.m. Aug. 6 in relation to a threats-related call.
“At approximately 9:15 p.m., the complainant reported a known person had attended their residence on Burnside Drive in Kirkland Lake in an intoxicated, frantic state,” the OPP said in a news release Wednesday.
“Concerned for their well-being, police were called but the person departed in a pickup truck prior to police arrival. The pickup truck ran off the road a short distance away and the person was located and subsequently arrested.”
The suspect is charged with impaired driving, refusing a breathalyser, uttering threats and failing to comply with a probation order.
