The day has come to elect the next premier of Ontario and CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca will have updates on the nine ridings in the northeast region here.
Polls close at 9 p.m. and the four major political party leaders – Doug Ford, Andrea Horwath, Steven Del Duca and Mike Schreiner – are racing to form the 43rd provincial government.

The northeastern Ontario ridings we are watching are:
- Algoma – Manitoulin CTV News has declared NDP incumbent Michael Mantha has been re-elected for a fourth term
- Mushkegowuk – James Bay CTV News has declared NDP incumbent Guy Bourgoin has been re-elected for a second term
- Nickel Belt CTV News has declared NDP incumbent France Gelinas has been re-elected for a fifth term
- Nipissing CTV News has declared PC incumbent Vic Fedeli has been re-elected for a fourth term


- Parry Sound – Muskoka CTV News has declared PC candidate Graydon Smith the winner, electing a new representative for the first time since 2001
- Sault Ste. Marie CTV News has declared PC incumbent Ross Romano has been re-elected for a third term

- Sudbury – CTV News has declared NDP incumbent Jamie West has been re-elected for a second term
- Timiskaming – Cochrane NDP incumbent John Vanthof is seeking a fourth term
- Timmins – CTV News has declared Mayor George Pirie the winner and has beaten NDP incumbent Gilles Bisson who was seeking his ninth term

Voting at the following polling stations in northeastern Ontario have been extended and will result in a delay in reporting for the whole riding:

Poll #4 extended until 11 p.m.
Parry Sound - Muskoka Riding
Poll #52 extended until 9:10 p.m.
Poll #30 extended until 9:30 p.m.
CTV News Northern Ontario Anchor Sarah Freemark and Sudbury video journalist Molly Frommer are at Overtime Sports Bar & Grill where NDP incumbent Jamie West will be gathering with supporters.

Sudbury videojournalist Alana Everson is at a restaurant in Val Caron where NDP Nickel Belt incumbent France Gelinas is hosting supporters and people who worked on her re-election campaign.
