A 31-year-old man faces multiple charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and resisting a peace officer, after an early-morning arrest in Sault Ste. Marie.

Sault police said officers observed the accused walking on Wellington Street West around 1 a.m. on April 11 and determined he was breaching a release order.

“Officers attempted to arrest the accused,” said the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service in a news release.

“While attempting the arrest, the accused resisted, but officers were able to gain physical control of the accused to arrest them.”

A subsequent search revealed a concealed handgun-style pellet gun.

As a result of the incident, the man was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, resisting a peace officer, and two counts of failing to comply with release orders.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
