Man dies after being ejected from snow machine in Greater Sudbury

A 55-year-old man was killed in a collision on a snowmobile trail in Hanmer, Sudbury police announced Friday.

Sudbury police said Friday that a 55-year-old man was killed earlier this week in a collision on a snowmobile trail in Hanmer.

Officers responded around 11:25 p.m. on March 6 to the single-vehicle collision on Stop Trail Plan 56 on North Range Mine Road, four kilometres North of Nelson Road in Hanmer.

“Upon arrival, officers located a deceased 55-year-old, man,” police said in a news release.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the driver failed to negotiate a curve on the trail, lost control of the snowmachine and was ejected.”

Police are not releasing the victim’s name.
