Closs said she first saw black smoke coming from the area where she grew up when she was at the grocery store April 8.

She said she made her way over to her old neighbourhood once she received a phone call about the fire from a friend who still lives in the area.
When she arrived, the home was engulfed in flames and firefighters were on scene.
