Police in North Bay say they were forced to shoot an aggressive dog that was attacking people last week on Main Street East.
The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. on April 19.
“When officers arrived, a large aggressive dog was attacking people within an apartment,” police said in a news release Tuesday.
“One of the residents was able to get control of the dog and brought it outside the apartment. At that point, the dog was able to escape and began attacking officers, who pepper-sprayed the dog.”
Pepper spray didn’t work
However, the pepper spray “had little effect” on the canine, police said, and the dog proceeded to attack another person.
At that point, police opened fire and shot the dog, who was later euthanized by a local vet.
“One person was transported to hospital by ambulance as a result of injuries suffered from the dog bite and later released,” police said.
“The incident is still being investigated by police.”
