Two suspected drug dealers from southern Ontario along with a local resident have been charged by police in Thunder Bay after searching a residence and locating cash, cocaine, fentanyl and a handgun with ammo.
A 37-year-old Thunder Bay woman along with a 29-year-old man from Scarborough, Ont., and a 17-year-old from Brampton were arrested on March 7 by an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG) comprised of officers from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, the Thunder Bay Police Service the OPP.
“In January 2024, PGNG commenced an investigation into individuals from the Greater Toronto Area who were trafficking drugs in the City of Thunder Bay,” said police in a news release.
“PGNG is dedicated to disrupting criminal street gang activity through intelligence-led, multi-jurisdictional drug trafficking investigations and reducing the number of illegal firearms in the province of Ontario.”
On March 7, police executed a search warrant on a home on Brock Street East and seized more than 100 grams of cocaine, almost 170 grams of crack cocaine, more than 200 grams of fentanyl, a handgun with 15 rounds of ammunition, five cellphones, other drug trafficking paraphernalia and more than $5,000 in cash.
As a result of the investigation, all three accused were charged with two counts of drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. The 17-year-old faces six additional charges of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition and carrying a concealed prohibited device along with an additional drug trafficking and an additional possession charge.

All of the accused are scheduled to appear in court in Thunder Bay at a later date.
None of the accusations has been proven in court.
