A 42-year-old from the Kenora area has been charged criminally for the deaths of two passengers in a crash that took place in April 2024.
Ontario Provincial Police responded around 1 p.m. April 13, along with EMS, to the single-vehicle SUV crash on Highway 525 in Kenora.
“Two individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene,” police said in a news release Thursday.
“Two other passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries.”
The driver, from Wabaseemoong First Nation, has been charged with two counts of impaired operation causing death, impaired operation causing bodily harm, dangerous operating cause death and dangerous operation causing bodily harm.
The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on Feb. 20.
“Investigations resulting in the loss of life and serious injuries can be complex to investigate,” the OPP said.
“Thorough and accurate investigations help ensure that motorists who cause these collisions are held accountable for their driving behaviours. The victims and their families deserve no less.”
