OPP warn public to avoid area of Kapuskasing

Ontario Provincial Police are advising the public of a “heavy” police presence in the area of Bowman Avenue in Kapuskasing, a rural northeastern Ontario town in the Cochrane district, approximately 130 km northwest of Timmins.

“Officers are asking members of the public to avoid the area to allow for the ongoing police investigation,” said OPP in a social media post shortly before 4:15 p.m.

OPP said the increased police presence remained as 8:50 p.m.

Provincial police did not immediately provide details on the nature of the investigation.

“More information will be released as it becomes available,” said police.
