A 37-year-old from West Nipissing, Ont., has been charged with several offences after an automatic licence plate reader alerted police to a suspended driver.
The passenger in the vehicle has also been charged in the incident, which took place April 17 in Armour Township.
The alert went off around 8:40 p.m., leading Ontario Provincial Police to stop the driver on Highway 11.
“Police seized amounts of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine (and) oxycodone pills,” police said in a news release Monday.
“The estimated street value for the drugs seized was approximately $20,000.”
Also seized were a digital scale, baggies, a debt list and cellphones.
The 37-year-old driver has been charged with drug trafficking offences and driving while suspended. The 56-year-old passenger, also from West Nipissing, was also charged with drug trafficking.
Both accused were held for a bail hearing, police said.
