Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 17 between Sistonen's Corner to Upsala in northwestern Ontario that occurred on Saturday.

Members of the Thunder Bay OPP detachment along with fire and emergency medical services responded to the two-vehicle collision involving a commercial motor vehicle and a passenger vehicle at about 10 a.m. on Dec. 28.
“The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said police in a news release.
“No other injuries were reported.”
Provincial police advised motorists that a thorough investigation for any fatal motor vehicle collision takes time, resulting in a lengthy closure of the highway.
The OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team along with collision re-constructionists are assisting in the ongoing investigation.
Highway 17 between Upsala and Highway 102 was closed for about seven hours as police launched their investigation.
According to the Ministry of Transportation’s 511 Traveller Information Service the roadway reopened at about 5:30 p.m.
Police have not released any details about the cause of the crash or if any charges are pending.
