A large-scale police search is underway in northern Ontario to find a snowmobiler who went missing Sunday west of Timmins.
Around 6:30 p.m. April 20, the South Porcupine detachment responded to a report about a person who hadn’t returned from driving a motorized snow vehicle on Horwood Lake, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.
Horwood Township is located about 90 kilometres southwest of Timmins and 50 kilometres southeast of Foleyet.
The search is continuing as a joint effort by several OPP units, including the emergency response team, aviation services and the underwater search and recovery unit.
Tuesday afternoon, OPP said there is a heavy police presence at Horwood Lake and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
