Search for Sudbury teen continues, 12 years after she disappeared

Published:

Sudbury police are renewing their plea to help find a missing teen who was last seen in 2013.

Police are renewing their call for information about the disappearance of Meagan Pilon of Sudbury, who was 15 when she went missing in 2013.

A $50,000 reward is still available for information on what happened to Pilon, who hasn’t been seen since she entered her home on Sept. 12, 2013.

In a news release Thursday, Ontario Provincial Police said foul play is suspected in the case.

“Investigators believe she left her residence during the early hours of Sept. 13, 2013,” police said.

“Foul play is suspected in Meagan’s disappearance. Despite extensive searches as part of the ongoing investigation, Meagan has not been located.”

At the time she disappeared, she was 5-foot-10 (178 cm) with a slim build, brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a circular scar on her right cheek and a bunny tattoo on her left shoulder blade.

“The Government of the Province of Ontario is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the disappearance,” police said.

Family hopes for answers

Last year, Meagan’s aunt told CTV News they believe she is dead, but they are still hoping to get closure by finding out what happened to her.

“She’s gone. Like, I feel like she’s with her mom now, but I feel she’s not far from here,” said Carole Martel.

“To whoever knows where Megan is, please do an anonymous post, do a fake account, go to a library, create a fake Facebook and just tell us where we can find her remains.”

The OPP and Greater Sudbury Police Service are continuing their investigation into her case. Digital billboards are displayed throughout Sudbury.

Anyone with information in relation to the investigation is encouraged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online.
