Single ATV rollover on Hwy. 522 leaves driver with life-threatening injuries

A 62-year-old man from East Mills Township was airlifted to hospital after a rollover involving an ATV in the Golden Valley area southwest of North Bay.

The driver of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) is in critical condition after a rollover on Highway 522 in the Golden Valley area, south of North Bay.

Emergency crews were called to the crash scene around 4:30 p.m. Feb. 11, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.

“The driver was initially transported by ambulance to an open area in Powassan, where they were airlifted to hospital via Ornge air ambulance for treatment of life-threatening injuries,” police said.

“The OPP’s traffic incident management enforcement team is assisting with this ongoing investigation.”

The driver is a 62-year-old man from East Mills Township, OPP Const. Kyler Brouwer confirmed in an email.

The westbound lane of the highway was closed for more than five hours Tuesday due to the crash.

Members of the Argyle Fire Department assisted police and paramedics from North Bay at the crash scene.
