Ontario Provincial Police say they are investigating how social media posts critical of the federal Liberal government were retweeted on one of its social media accounts in northern Ontario.
Last Thursday, CTV News was tagged in two reposts on X by the OPP’s Ontario North East Region. Both were political posts that were critical of the federal Liberal government.
When a CTV News reporter saw the posts and contacted the OPP, the posts were removed. After nearly a week of trying to get an answer, the OPP media relations team emailed us a statement.

“The content shared does not reflect the views or values of the organization,” said acting staff Sgt. Jeffrey Del Guidice in the statement.
“The OPP is committed to upholding impartiality in our operations and serving all Ontarians with pride and professionalism.”
The OPP said it’s aware of the reposts and said it’s investigating how the reposts occurred.
It said access to OPP’s social media accounts is restricted to a select group of officers trained in media relations.
“The OPP is also in the process of implementing further measures and safeguards to ensure that our official communication channels are used appropriately and professionally,” Del Guidice added.
He said the OPP is committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of the communities they serve.
