The Sudbury Professional Firefighters Association turned up the heat Wednesday on its donation efforts towards the NEO Kids Foundation.

The union is donating $25,000 from sales of its 2017 Sudbury firefighters calendar.

The money will help fund vital pieces of equipment and conduct lifesaving research for NEO Kids at Health Sciences North.

“The movement within the community to support this organization continues to grow and grow and grow,” said Patricia Mills NEO Kids Foundation president.

“This significant donation, and participation too, it's not always about the money, but the willingness and the passion and participation of these firefighters toward that goal of helping the north's children is very, very much appreciated.”

“I'm sure I speak for all of those professional firefighters that were involved in this process and this initiative that today is the payoff. It absolutely makes us extremely proud to be able to deliver those funds to the NEO Kids foundation today,” added Kris Volpel, Sudbury Professional Firefighters Association.

The firefighter calendars went on sale for $20 apiece in late September and were sold out by February.

This project has been going every other year for 15 years.
