Sudbury nears decision on who will build $65M cultural hub

Published:

With construction of a new library and art gallery expected to begin later this year, Greater Sudbury is about to issue an RFP to pick the construction firm that will lead the project.

Six companies made it through the prequalification process to manage the construction of the $65 million plan to place the library and gallery inside Tom Davies Square on Brady Street downtown.

The city hopes to award the contract by the second quarter of the year, with construction to begin in the third quarter.

The federal government is providing $24.9 million from the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program for the cultural hub, as the project is known.

The city is hoping to attract funding from other sources to help pay for the project.
