Sudbury police issue shelter-in-place in Capreol

As of Tuesday evening, police in Greater Sudbury were still on the scene dealing with a barricaded person in Capreol.

Sudbury police surrounded a Capreol home and are asking neighbours to shelter-in-place Tuesday afternoon.

Police warned of a heavy presence on Hanna Avenue between Shaw Street and Maple Boulevard around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The emergency response unit has contained a residence where there is a barricaded person inside.

In an update Tuesday at 2:17 p.m., police said the standoff continues.

Students coming home from school “who are unable to return to their residences should attend the Capreol Millennium Resource Centre, 24 Meehan St., Capreol,” police said.

“School bus consortium will be advised.”

Police are asking the public to not livestream footage or photos of officers and to avoid the area.
