A 28-year-old local man faces multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recognized him as a suspended driver during a routine patrol in Elliot Lake.

On April 12, at about 10:45 a.m., officers spotted a black car with a driver known to be suspended travelling on Spruce Avenue.

“Police recognized a black car with a known suspended driver,” the OPP said in a news release.

“A subsequent vehicle stop was conducted.”

The vehicle was towed and impounded by police.

As a result of the incident, the motorist was charged with three counts of driving while suspended, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited and failing to comply with probation.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on June 12 to answer the charges.
