A 15-year-old girl in North Bay who was already under release conditions has been charged with firing a replica handgun and making threats.

In a July 2 news release, North Bay police said the incident took place around 11 p.m. on July 1 on Memorial Drive.

“Officers … located and arrested the accused without incident,” police said.

“As part of the investigation, police recovered and seized a replica firearm involved in the incident.”

Uttering threats, pointing a firearm

She has been charged with several offences, including carrying a concealed weapon, pointing a firearm, discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, causing a disturbance, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Police said using a replica gun to commit an offence “carries the same serious legal consequences as using a real firearm.”

“Officers responding to reports involving firearms must treat every situation as though the threat is real to protect the public and themselves,” police said.

“Choosing to use a replica firearm creates significant risk and will be met with a quick, decisive police response.”

The accused was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
