Tory leader continued his northern Ont. tour in the Sault Sunday

Poilievre rallies in North Bay against carbon tax Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is touring northern Ontario with his message of scrapping the federal carbon tax.

Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre kicked off a quick tour of northern Ontario in Thunder Bay on Friday.

Poilievre appeared in Timmins on Saturday morning to the media and an outdoor crowd followed by an appearance at the Schumacher Lions Club Basement Hall, 85 McIntyre Rd at about 9:30 a.m.

He then headed to North Bay where he spoke with media before an appearance scheduled at 2:30 p.m at Cecil's The Grande Event Centre at 192 Main St. East. Poilievre also made his way to Greater Sudbury for a 6:30 p.m. appearance at the Holiday Inn, 1696 Regent St.

The Tory leader wrapped up his northern tour in the Sault on Sunday with events that included a meet and greet at The Water Tower Inn on Great Northern Road.

The latest ballot tracking numbers as of Jan. 5 have the Conservatives are maintaining their lead over the governing Liberals, with 38.3 per cent of ballot support, down 1.5 per cent from four weeks ago. The same Nanos Research survey results also shows that just 31 per cent of people surveyed said they thought Canada was on the right track.
