On March 23, police received a complaint about a commercial motor vehicle driver speeding through a 60 km/h zone in the Town of Mattice on Highway 11.

“Officers located the CMV going 103 km/h in another 60 km/h zone in Val Rita,” Ontario Provincial Police said Tuesday.

As a result, the 24-year-old driver from Surrey, B.C., was charged with stunt driving.

Then on Tuesday morning, OPP stopped a pickup truck travelling at 142 km/h in a 90 km/h zone on Highway 11 in Moonbeam.

A 34-year-old Kapuskasing resident was charged with stunt driving.

“In both cases, the vehicles were impounded for 14 days, the drivers’ licences were suspended for 30 days, and the drivers will appear in traffic court on a later date,” police said.

“Speeding puts everyone at risk. Slow down and drive responsibly.”
