Sudbury — A pair of kayakers were rescued on the weekend after their vessel capsized in Lake Huron near Providence Bay off of Manitoulin Island.
Luckily, the two people were wearing life jackets, which first responders credit to their survival.
It took a helicopter and a team of people, including Manitoulin OPP, emergency medical services, U.S. Coast Guard, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Trenton, and civilians to bring the two people to safety.
One of the rescued was taken to hospital with severe hypothermia.
