Officers with the emergency response unit pulled a vehicle over on Notre Dame Avenue on Wednesday and arrested two suspected drug dealers from southern Ontario, Greater Sudbury Police Service said in a news release Thursday.

“As a result of the arrests and search of the individuals and vehicle, detectives located and seized (a) loaded handgun, approximately 180 grams of cocaine, 56 grams of fentanyl, 35 – 8 mg hydromorphone pills, a replica handgun and $8,900 in cash,” police said.

The two suspects, ages 31 and 35, are both charged with more than a dozen criminal charges including three counts each of drug trafficking, two counts of possessing a firearm despite a prohibition order and several other weapon-related charges.

It turns out the driver, 31, also had a suspended licence.

As part of the investigation, a home on Brady Street was also searched resulting in the arrest of a 26-year-old local man.

He is charged with possession of ammunition despite a prohibition order and failing to comply with a release order.

“All three individuals were held in police custody overnight and will attend bail court” Thursday, police said.
