Wanted man arrested in North Bay after police chase on foot

North Bay police arrested a federal offender accused of breaching his statutory release nearly two weeks ago.

Brandon Roy went "unlawfully at large on Nov. 26," Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Monday morning.

Roy is serving a sentence of two years and a day for more than a dozen charges including armed robbery, assault and theft.

He was also convicted of failing to comply with a sex offender registration order, possession of property obtained by crime worth more than $5,000, three counts of failing to comply with an order at large and two counts of failing to attend court.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued last week saying he was known to frequent Timmins, Thunder Bay and Kenora.

He was found in downtown North Bay on Dec. 6 while officers were conducting a foot patrol in the 200 block of Main Street East.

"Roy was arrested after a brief foot chase," North Bay police said in a news release.

"The provincial (Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement) squad would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this investigation," OPP said.
