Wanted Timmins man attempts to flee police, arrested with stolen property

A 31-year-old Timmins man is facing several charges related to stolen property following an incident with police on Wednesday.

While on patrol in the north end of the city, a Timmins police officer recognized an individual who was wanted by police.

The officer confirmed the man had a valid outstanding arrest warrant with the Timmins Police Service.

“Upon being approached, the suspect attempted to flee from police and actively resisted being arrested,” said police.

“The suspect was eventually taken into custody.”

Police said a quantity of stolen goods was located among the suspect’s personal effects.

As a result of the incident, the 31-year-old local man was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, resisting a peace officer, failing to comply with a release order and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.
