It will be a sunny day with above-average temperatures in Ottawa this Friday.

Environment Canada’s weather forecast for the capital calls for a high of 8 C Friday afternoon, about six degrees warmer than the seasonal norm.

Expect a few clouds overnight with a low of 1 C, which is about eight degrees above average for this time of year.

Saturday’s forecast is partly sunny with a high of 11 C.

Sunday will see showers with a high of 15 C. A note from Environment Canada says significant rainfall amounts and strong wind gusts are possible Sunday and urges residents to consult local conservation authorities about flooding risks.

The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) issued a flood watch for North Gower on Thursday, saying flooding could occur along Stevens Creek and Taylor Drain on Sunday.

“The forecast remains variable and although no significant flooding is expected at this time, localized flooding is possible. Also, rapidly melting snow could impact all waterbodies across the Rideau Valley, leading to flooding in low-lying areas as well as ditches and stormwater features,” the RVCA says.

Cooler weather is in the forecast for Monday, with a high of 2 C and a chance of flurries or showers.
