As some residents leave for warmer weather during March Break, some in the nation’s capital are electing to stay.
Jillian Deslippe is hosting family from Windsor, taking them to the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum on Monday.
“It’s lovely because we don’t get to see them very often. A couple times a year, so it’s always nice when they can make the journey,” said Deslippe.

The museum is hosting a week’s worth of different activities over the break for families to come and enjoy quality time together.
“We know that people are looking for something fun to do while they’re off of school and, spending time with their families,” said museum manager of public programs Ellen Morrison.
“We have our regular activities going on. We always do demonstrations with the animals, cooking in the kitchen and things like that.”
From meeting different farm animals to an interactive syrup production process, Morrison says there is something for kids of all ages.
“We have a lot of really dedicated local members who visit us on a regular basis, but it’s really nice to see people coming from other areas because the spirit of this museum belongs to them as much as it belongs to anyone who lives in Ottawa,” Morrison says.
The museum has activities running throughout the break until March 16.
