Dr. Vera Etches, the president and CEO of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), is challenging her counterpart in Toronto to an NHL playoff bet.
The Ottawa Senators are hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Canadian Tire Centre Thursday night in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series. The Leafs currently lead the series 2-0.
“Hey, SickKids, I know that we’re down 2-0 in the series,” Etches said in an Instagram post, “but I think the Sens are going to bounce back and win this.”
Etches is challenging Dr. Ronald Cohn, the president and CEO of the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) to wear an Ottawa Senators jersey for a day if the Sens manage to come back and win the series.
“If the Maple Leafs somehow sweep through and win, you know, I’ll wear your jersey for a day,” said Etches. “But, if the Sens win, as I’m predicting, you’ll wear the Sens jersey for a day. Game on?”
The account for the SickKids Foundation replied in the comments, “Oh, it’s on!”
In a separate post on the SickKids account, Cohn accepted the friendly bet.
“Can you imagine me walking around in a Sens jersey for one full day? Absolutely not,” said Cohn. “But let’s keep it real, people: it’s not going to happen.”
