A downtown Ottawa office building could be transformed into a residential building with 107 units. Metcalfe Realty Company has filed a Site Plan Control application with the City of Ottawa to convert a 16-storey office building at 85 Albert Street into a residential building with 107 units and a rooftop amenity. According to the city, the property is currently a 16-storey office building with commercial use and a parking garage ramp. The proposed conversion would see the building transformed into a 15-storey residential building with a rooftop amenity area on the 16th floor. There would be studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, while the 68-vehicle parking spaces in the existing underground parking garage. Several office buildings have been converted from office space to residential units, including the former Department of National Defence building at 110 O’Connor Street, 200 Elgin Street, 360 Laurier Avenue and 130 Slater Street.
