A 64-year-old driver and a G1 licenced driver cruising around in mom’s SUV spent the Easter weekend without a vehicle after being stopped for stunt driving over the holiday weekend.

The Ottawa Police Service Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit kept an eye on Ottawa roads over the weekend.

Police said on Saturday, a 64-year-old driver was observed going 159 km/h on Highway 174 at Montreal Road. The speed limit is 100 km/h.

A 19-year-old driver was also spotted going 53 km/h over the speed limit on Bank Street at Athans Street. Police say the driver was driving their mom’s SUV.

The charge of stunt driving includes a 30-day licence suspension, and their vehicle is impounded for 14 days.

Upon conviction, offenders can face a fine between $2,000 and $10,000.
