A 34-year-old woman is facing charges after allegedly causing significant damage to an apartment building in Pembroke, Ont. and assaulting two people last week, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Police say they received a call on Feb. 21 reporting damage to the walls, elevator, lights and signage in an apartment building on Elizabeth Street. Police note that a fire extinguisher was also set off.

Upon investigation, police seized a hammer and found that two individuals were assaulted. They were not injured.

The estimated damage to the building exceeds $20,000, officers say.

The 34-year-old has been charged with mischief over $5,000, spousal assault, and assault with a weapon.

“The assault charges relate to a neighbour and a former intimate partner; therefore, the name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victims,” the OPP said in a news release on Friday.

She is scheduled to appear in court on a future date .
